Job summary

WSP is seeking a Building Sciences Technologist based in Abbotsford, BC, to help shape safer, more resilient buildings across BC's Lower Mainland. You'll contribute to building investigations, restoration planning, and capital assessments while working both in the office and on-site.

You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, perform hands-on field measurements, document observations, and support material condition surveys and depreciation reports for strata, asset managers, and owners.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, Building Science, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Registered Roof Observer (RRO) accreditation from IIBEC.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
• Eligibility or registration with ASTTBC or IIBEC is an asset.
• Prior experience in consulting engineering, building assessments, or restoration work.
• Foundational knowledge of building materials, construction processes, building envelope and roofing systems, and mechanical/electrical components.
• Comfortable working in varied field environments and performing hands-on investigative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to building investigation reports, design documentation, and technical expertise alongside seasoned building science professionals.
• Participate in building envelope and roofing reviews, restoration assessments, site investigations, and condition verifications.
• Perform non-invasive investigations that may involve ladders, heights, confined spaces, and detailed field measurements.
• Visit active construction sites to document observations, verify compliance, and collect field test results.
• Support involvement with a wide variety of buildings across residential, commercial and education sectors.
• Develop towards specification writing and CRCA and project management roles.
• Conduct property condition assessments and prepare depreciation reports used by strata corporations, asset managers, and building owners.
• Develop capital plans that support long-term decision-making and responsible investment for diverse client groups.
• Enhance the team’s knowledge systems by sharing insights, lessons learned, and best practices.

As a Building Sciences Technologist, you will contribute to shaping safer, more resilient, and longer‑lasting buildings. Based in Abbotsford, BC, you will support clients across BC's Lower Mainland. Compensation

• AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400–$102,500
• MB & ON: $70,600–$97,200
• NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $69,900–$92,900
