Qualifications

  • Completed 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a relevant Bachelor's degree.

Job Description

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Building Sciences Co-op Student during Spring/Summer 2025 to join our Buildings group, located at our Toronto office at 25 York. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Building Sciences, this position will be responsible for conducting site reviews and subsequent reporting while assisting our Junior and Intermediate Engineers on projects related to the evaluation and planning of renewal of existing building systems. These projects are typically comprehensive in nature and include all building systems including, but not limited to: structure, cladding, windows, roofing, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. This position will provide a large range of exposure and understanding of the various building systems.

A day in the life:

  • Apply engineering knowledge to tasks on Building Condition Assessment & new construction audit project types;
  • Assist engineers with on-site evaluations & reports for new and existing residential, commercial and industrial building types;
  • Utilize existing software tools to report on-site conditions, plan renewal projects and develop budgets for renewal recommendations;
  • Accept responsibility for clearly defined project tasks, deliverables and outcomes;
  • Apply sustainable thinking and practices within project delivery;
  • Contribute to the knowledge systems within the building science practice;
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What you’ll bring to WSP …

  • Completed 2nd, 3rd or 4th year (final work term) of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Sciences, Architectural Science or Applied Science;
  • Demonstrates a passion in building sciences, building envelope technology, or building construction;
  • Previous co-op / summer work experience in the construction or engineering industry related to buildings is ideal;
  • Excellent communicator. English is required, effectively able to communicate in French is an asset;
  • A team player, amongst energetic, successful people;
  • Strong at multi-tasking, organized and adaptable to shifting priorities;
  • Security clearance with the federal government is an asset, but not required;
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
