Job Description:

  1. Site investigation and evaluation of existing buildings.
  2. Preparation of warranty reviews and depreciation reports.
  3. Preparation of drawings and specifications in support of reports.
  4. Perform building condition assessments, field investigation work such as leak investigations of all aspects of building envelope including roofs, walls, windows, and foundations.
  5. Project management, contract administration, and field reviews.
  6. Design and analysis to determine effective repair alternatives.
  7. Coordination with team members, clients, engineering, and architectural disciplines.
  8. Provide support to project staff on project responsibilities when needed.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Write reports, conduct site investigations, problem-solve proactively and collaboratively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Engineering, Applied Science or Architectural/Building Science technologist program required.
  2. 1-3 years of experience in building science (an asset).
  3. Field experience addressing site conditions and working with construction processes.
  4. Experience with warranty reviews, depreciation reports, building envelope condition assessments.
  5. EIT, P.Eng, or ASC.T. designations preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  1. Technical knowledge of building enclosure design and construction principles.
  2. Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, staff, and consultants.
  3. Ability to gather and diagnose information, interpret data and drawings, and assess conditions of multiple components.
  4. Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, or similar programs is an asset.
  5. Analytical problem-solving skills and strong investigative aptitude, including the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose building performance issues.
  6. Inquisitive nature with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
