Job summary

RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust is seeking a maintenance professional to manage daily site operations and maintain a clean, safe environment for tenants, customers, contractors and employees.

The role includes predictive and preventive maintenance of building systems, life safety, and responding to on-call emergencies with shifts 12:00pm–8:00pm Wed-Fri and 9am–5pm Sat-Sun; on-call availability as required.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years of previous relevant work experience.
• Retail/commercial property maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience with Emergency backup generator testing.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, emergency systems and life safety.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the day to day maintenance and operation of the site(s) to ensure clean and safe
environment for tenants, customers, contractors and employees.

Shift details:12:00pm to 8:00pmWednesday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday; available for on call emergencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Liaise with Tenants and Contractors and maintain relations;
• Conduct daily property check;
• Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on building structural elements andfinishes, building equipment, HVAC systems and others as directed;
• Ensure life safety systems are operating efficiently;
• Identify and rectify any general maintenance issues;
• System monitoring of mechanical equipment;
• Coordinate contractor access and ensure all deficiencies are rectified;
• Advise manager on any building inefficiencies;
• Liaise with internal and external contacts for prompt and professional investigation andresolution to concerns;
• Respond to emergency after-hour calls and participate in on-call services as required;
• Assist with seasonal building requirements;
• Basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical and miscellaneous repairs on site;
• Communicate and execute all work procedures set out by management;
• Daily litter control – maintain curb appeals of the properties;
• Other duties / projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 - 5 years of previous relevant work experience;
• Shift details: 12:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday to Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday; available for on call emergencies;
• Previous maintenance experience preferably gained in a retail / commercial propertyenvironment;
• Experience with Emergency backup generator testing;
• BES I & II certificate or registered to complete;
• Sound knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, emergency systems and fireand life safety;
• Execute all work in a safe and professional manner and in compliance with Occupational
• Health and Safety Legislation guidelines and other applicable regulations;
• Experience performing minor repairs, painting, drywall, electrical installations andplumbing;
• Familiarity with safe work practices and construction standards;
• Ability to prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

$26.82 - $36.87 an hour

The base salary range for this role reflects compensation for candidates at varying levels of experience and proficiency. The salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant competencies, including skills, experience, education, and our teams’ requirements.

This listed salary range does not include bonus and other total rewards. This role is eligible for participation in the company’s bonus program.
