Job summary

Taylor Ryan Executive Search Partners seeks experienced commercial Building Operators for Etobicoke, Mississauga and Brampton. You will maintain HVAC/electrical systems, manage mechanical spaces, and liaise with tenants to resolve requests while upholding safety standards.

You will inspect facilities, coordinate with contractors, and support daily duties for the Senior Operator and Property Manager. Competitive salary offered with on-site work and after-hours rotation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an operator in commercial, retail and industrial buildings.
• Thorough understanding of complex mechanical and electrical systems (pumps, boilers, chillers, towers, AHU).
• Knowledge of building automation systems and instrumentation is essential.
• Diploma/Certificate in Building Systems or BES I/II is an asset.
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical, structural and plumbing drawings; fire/life safety knowledge.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and meeting schedules.

Job description

We are looking for experienced commercial Building Operators in Etobicoke, Mississauga and Brampton.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment to ensure systems are properly, safely and efficiently operating.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of all mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, pump rooms, common areas and vacant suites.
• Routinely inspect the buildings and equipment to determine if maintenance/repairs is required and report to Supervisor.
• Respond promptly to tenant requests as they are dispatched, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all tenant transactions, requests and responses. Maintain strong tenant relationships through direct engagement.
• Cooperate with outside contractors working in the building/s and ensure they comply with building and safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise, remaining calm and collected even in stressful situations.
• Assist in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all persons within the buildings, including the safety and appearance of the buildings by picking up refuse, removing snow and graffiti, etc. when noticed in your daily routine.
• Assist with tasks on a daily basis if called upon and complete other tasks, as assigned, by the Senior Building Operator, Assistant Property Manager and/or Corporate Project Manager.
• After hours on call coverage required on a rotation basis.

Qualifications:

• 3+ year's minimum experience as an operator in commercial, retail and industrial buildings with a thorough understanding of complex mechanical and electrical systems, including work experience in pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers and all air handling equipment.
• Knowledge of building automation systems, controls and instrumentation is a must. First-hand knowledge of plumbing/electrical installations and repair with experience in handling construction projects.
• Diploma or Certificate in Building Systems, HVAC, Building Environmental Systems (BES I/II) or related technical field from recognized Ontario college is a definite asset.
• An understanding of space plans, tenant build-out plans, full mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing drawings and a good understanding of fire, life safety systems and equipment.
• The ability to use intuition, best judgment and adhering to all schedules and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Must maintain confidentiality and process information with due care, including adhering to company policies and procedures.
• Be courteous and respectful of all tenants, visitors to the buildings, and peers and report any unorthodox behaviour. Work as a "team" with other staff to carry out the portfolio tasks.
• Exceptional attitude and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office and Yardi Maintenance or related software.

Compensation:

• Annual base salary starting from $60,000 - $65,000
