Job summary

TCU Place in Saskatoon is seeking a Building Operator to ensure reliable facility operations. The role involves maintaining mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building automation systems, and supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality service at events.

Reporting to the Building Operations Supervisor, you will develop and manage maintenance programs, perform repairs, and assist with equipment relocations. A Fourth Class Engineer's License and related certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education required.
• Possession of Fourth Class Engineer's License TSASK.
• Possession of Refrigeration Engineer's License TSASK.
• BOMI SMC certification preferred.
• Three years' mechanical and building systems maintenance experience.
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License and clean SGI abstract.

Responsibilities

• Leads and assists with maintaining operation of building systems including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building automation systems.
• Prepares and maintains maintenance programs, schedules and records.
• Assures maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Performs minor maintenance and repairs to premises and fixtures.
• Assists with relocation and installation of fixtures and equipment.
• Acts as Building Operations Supervisor when required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Building Operations Supervisor, the Building Operator is responsible for maintaining the operating building systems including routine and preventative maintenance required to ensure all systems are operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building systems maintenance and operation.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to deal effectively with the public and other civic employees.
• Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
• Demonstrated skill in the operation and maintenance of building control systems.

Education, Training And Experience Requirements

• Grade 12 education.
• Possession of a valid Fourth Class Engineer's License with TSASK.
• Possession of a valid Refrigeration Engineer's License with TSASK.
• Possession of or ability to obtain BOMI Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC).
• Three years' mechanical and building systems maintenance experience.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License.
• Current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Salary

Salary: $72,362.88 - $79,779.84 annual salary (CUPE-59 2026 Rates)
