Job summary

Colliers International in Mississauga is seeking a Building Operator to manage an office and retail portfolio, ensuring safe, efficient operation of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.

The role requires 4 to 6 years in building operations, a diploma in building systems, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work rotating shifts, with on-call duties and strong safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Building Systems, HVAC, BES I/II or related technical field from an Ontario college.
• Knowledge of building mechanical/electrical equipment, building automation, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts (Mon–Fri, 7:00–15:00 and 9:00–17:00), overtime; on-call participation.
• Knowledge of WHMIS, lockout/tagout, fall protection and mould; proficiency with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment to ensure occupant comfort and safe operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and life safety systems; report conditions to the Operations Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness of machine rooms, electrical rooms, pump rooms, and vacant suites.
• Routinely inspect the building and equipment and report additional maintenance or repairs to the Operations Manager.
• Maintain outdoor air ventilation per design guidelines and adhere to filter replacement schedules for air quality and efficiency.
• Respond quickly to tenant and property management requests, including emergencies.
• Coordinate and oversee on-site vendors; ensure safety regulations and internal policies are followed; report on third-party activities.
