Job description

Join to apply for the Building Operator role at Honeywell.

As a Building Operator here at Honeywell, you will play an essential role in providing services for our customers in the Healthcare industry. In this role, you will report to the Facility Manager and will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems and equipment to ensure a safe, compliant, and comfortable environment. This position supports operational efficiency and customer satisfaction across healthcare sites.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform preventative maintenance including checking valves, pumps, belts, motors, fans, buildings/building support equipment, air handling system inspection, filter cleaning and replacement, etc., and record these routines.
  2. Inspect and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps/motors, valves, fans, coils, compressors, bearings, steam traps, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  3. Conduct daily and weekly rounds of mechanical spaces.
  4. Perform general repairs and maintenance (minor plumbing, door locks, office furniture, changing light bulbs, patching and painting walls, etc.).
  5. Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems and complete CMMS work orders via iPad.
  6. Support safety and compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
  7. Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and adjustments on mechanical and hydronic systems.
  8. Assist licensed trades, manage inventory, and respond to emergency calls and after-hours issues.
  9. Document all maintenance activities and ensure cleanliness of mechanical spaces.
  10. Interact professionally with clients, contractors, and the public to maintain service standards.
You Must Have
  1. High school diploma (Grade 12).
  2. Building Environmental Systems Operator Class I Certificate or a relevant mechanical/technical trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Stationary Engineering).
  3. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in facility maintenance or a related technical field.
  4. Ability to lift up to 27 kg (60 lbs.) and work in physically demanding conditions.
  5. Ability to respond to emergency situations and participate in on-call rotations.
  6. Current member or willingness to join the local Union.
  7. Able to obtain Police clearance.
  8. Immunization as required by St. Joseph’s Hospital Healthcare and the Project Agreement.
