Job summary

A property management company in Kitchener is seeking a maintenance professional responsible for building operations, including HVAC and plumbing systems. Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial, commercial, office, or retail real estate environment.
• Valid and clean Class G driver’s license.
• Familiarity with safety and fire codes and WHMIS procedures.

• Carry out and/or supervise preventative maintenance and regular inspections.
• Complete tenant service calls in a safe and professional manner.
• Oversee the appearance and safety of the properties.

Job description

What will you do?

Simply put, you will be responsible for maintenance and building operations. Below are some of the primary responsibilities; we’ll discuss others in person:

• Carry out and/or supervise preventative maintenance and regular inspections on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems;
• Complete tenant service calls such as changing lights, heating/cooling issues, etc., in a safe and professional manner;
• Oversee the appearance and safety of the properties;
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions/recommendations;
• Oversee contractors and ensure they abide by contract guidelines and project timelines;
• Respond to emergency after-hours calls as required;
• Communicate regularly with Property Management on building and tenant issues;
• Maintain maintenance and daily logs of equipment, including meter readings;
• Maintain keys and locks register.

There are also some physical requirements associated with this job. Here are some of the physical tasks you'll need to be able to do:

• Bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, and reaching;
• Move and lift equipment and supplies;
• A combination of walking, standing, sitting, and driving. There won’t be too much sitting, so don’t worry about getting restless.
