Building Operations Assistant (Temporary approx. 13 months)

Job Profile

There is a temporary opening for a Building Operations Assistant within the Facilities Division, Corporate Enterprise Department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Facilities - Operations, the duties include:

What you will be doing

  • Conduct routine inspections on pool equipment and chemical systems, complete testing, and maintain logs throughout the day.
  • Perform day-to-day repairs and maintenance in buildings, including responding to work orders.
  • Assist with program set-up and tear-down.
  • Complete weekly/monthly inspections for building maintenance and fire and life safety testing.
  • Perform groundskeeping and building maintenance duties.

Education

  • Grade 12 OSS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certificate.
  • Valid G Driver’s License.
  • Assets include ORFA – Building Operations Course, Certified Building Technician Designation, Certified Aquatic Technician Designation, Certified Ice Technician Designation.
  • Consideration given to 2-year certificate programs in Building Environmental Systems Operator Class 1 and Class 2.

Experience and Knowledge

One to two years of relevant experience in:

  • Pool chemistry knowledge and skills through hands-on experience and education.
  • Building operations and maintenance.
  • Understanding of building components across various facilities.
  • Teamwork to promote smooth facility operations.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Requirements upon hiring

  • Confirmation of physical ability to perform duties, assessed via third-party provider.
  • Current Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
  • Proof of educational qualifications and certificates.
  • Valid G driver’s license.
  • Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate (may be obtained after offer).

Compensation

Hourly wage between $36.40 and $38.70 within Grade 6 of the union salary schedule, plus comprehensive benefits and OMERS pension.

Hours of Work

35 hours/week with rotating shifts including days, afternoons, and weekends, per collective agreement.
