The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly-skilled Building Official I to join our dedicated Development, Engineering, and Sustainability team. This is an opportunity to have a directly impact the growth and innovation in Kamloops’ infrastructure.
As a Building Official I, you will play a pivotal role in the review and approval of building permits, site inspections, enforcement of BC’s Building and Plumbing Codes, City bylaws and much more! This highly-technical position interacts with and provides professional guidance to many internal departments, developers, owners, contractors and other external agencies. Please note, this Building Official I posting coincides with postings for a fully qualified Building Official III (#) and Building Official II (#). Our preference is to only hire a fully qualified Building Official III. However, if there are no candidates deemed fully qualified, candidates for the Building Official II and Building Official I postings will be considered
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
