Job Title:Building Maintenance Coordinator

Status: Regular, Full-time (union position)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4pm (possible work on Saturdays and evenings)
Grid: 12
Rate:$29.17 - 33.49/hr (starting at $29.17/hr)

The Opportunity:

The Building Maintenance Coordinator (BMC) oversees the day-to-day activities of operational needs for DIVERSEcity’s facility management and maintenance to ensure a welcoming and safe space for staff and visitors. The BMC will perform manual maintenance work of limited complexity and ensures a welcoming and safe space for staff and visitors at all DIVERSEcity locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs manual maintenance work of limited complexity.
  • Coordinates a variety of routine maintenance assignments as well as personnel supporting services.
  • Plans and coordinates facilities work which includes personnel buildings, roads, and ground.
  • Monitors and identifies issues including but not limited to; roof leaks, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, repairing roads, snow removal and salting, landscaping, office furniture repairs, window upgrades and repairs, door upgrades and repairs, and painting of buildings internally and externally. ·
  • Requests quotes from vendors/contractors. ·
  • Schedules contractors to conduct work as needed
  • Procures parts and equipment as needed for facilities work.
  • Provides and maintains office furniture and arranges office relocations with onsite labor resources
  • Schedules and oversees the provision of building and equipment maintenance, janitorial and custodial services.
  • Supervises contractors in building and equipment maintenance, repair, and janitorial services
  • Works with the Manager in the development of departmental building maintenance and operating budgets
  • Assists and oversees implementation of Building Improvement and ensure that work conforms to established standards and regulatory requirements
  • Responds to emergency maintenance calls
  • Under the direction of the supervisor, coordinates and oversees office moves, renovations, and inspections with the Facilities Manager
  • Monitors and reports risk and safety concerns to Facilities Manager
  • Supports the Facilities Department in Occupational Health and Safety initiatives
  • Work with the Facilities Coordinator in maintaining the over-all inventory system within the Facilities Department
  • Ensuring facility is clean and safe for public and staff use.
  • Other related duties as required

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, related experience in a medium-sized office (200+ staff) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Diploma in a related field, plus completion of a certificate in related skill fields and/or trades
  • Knowledge on WorkSafe BC OHS Regulation
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues in a professional and discreet manner and assess risk issues to management as they arise
  • Pleasant telephone manner and business etiquette and ethical decision-making abilities backed by excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle are required
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and transport items in your own vehicle may be required
  • First Aid Certificate and OHS Certificate an asset; or willingness to obtain an OFA Level 2 and OHS Level 2 certification
