Job Description

We are currently looking for an engineering professional specializing in sustainable design, building efficiency, and energy simulation. The incumbent will work on energy modelling, estimate building energy use intensity (EUI), and collaborate with mechanical and electrical design teams on energy and GHG emissions reduction measures.

CIMA+'s Buildings team is renowned for designing high-quality, energy-efficient buildings, prioritizing user comfort. Many of our projects have won awards, and we have a dedicated team of specialists supporting high-performance projects across Canada.

  1. Conduct building energy simulations, energy modeling, and carbon emissions analysis to support sustainable design and operational improvements.
  2. Develop energy models in compliance with National and Provincial Energy Codes and relevant green building certification standards.
  3. Identify and recommend energy conservation measures for decarbonization strategies for existing buildings.
  4. Propose strategies to optimize energy performance, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort in new construction projects.
  5. Prepare detailed technical reports outlining energy analysis findings and recommendations.
  6. Present insights and recommendations to clients and stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  7. Support NECB performance compliance and regulatory submissions through documentation.
  8. Provide technical support and verification for green building certifications such as LEED, Zero Carbon Building, and BOMA BESt.
  9. Perform life-cycle cost analyses to assess financial feasibility of energy measures.
  10. Conduct energy and water audits for existing buildings to identify efficiency opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Engineering, Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • P.Eng certification with PEO
  • At least 3 years of experience in energy modeling and building performance analysis
  • Proficiency in energy simulation software such as IES-VE, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, and RETScreen Expert
  • Strong background in sustainable development, energy-efficient systems, and related programs
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French is an asset
