Reporting to the Building Services Supervisor, you’ll help keep our administrative offices and Gallery clean and tidy. Your tasks will include emptying wastebaskets, dusting furniture, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning washrooms and vacuuming carpets. You'll also operate cleaning machines and handle any spot cleaning as needed.
What You Will Do
• Clean kitchens, including washing dishes, countertops, sinks, stoves and floors
• Tidy and clean offices, furniture and other areas in the Annex
• Take out garbage and recycling and clean washrooms as needed
• Vacuum and clean floors in common areas including the library and basement corridors
• Spot clean and extract carpets as needed
• Prepare coffee for events and meetings
• Keep track of janitorial supplies and notify the Building Services Supervisor when items need reordering
• Assist with minor building maintenance and respond to emergencies
• Maintain a culturally safe workspace throughout the Gallery
This role contributes to the overall success of the Facilities and Operations Department team.
As a Building Cleaner, you have completed Grade 12 or equivalent. You also bring a minimum of 1 year's cleaning experience.
In addition, you have:
• The ability to be physically capable of handling tasks such as lifting and pushing
• Strong attention to detail for cleaning
• A strong adherence to safety protocols is essential
• Reliability
• A relevant training and certification in Building Services or a similar field is an asset
