Summary
BGIS ITS Canada Ltd., a division of BGIS, is seeking an experienced Building Automation System (BAS) Technician. The technician will be responsible for servicing and maintaining BAS in client facilities, including performing preventive maintenance, programming, installing hardware and software, creating graphical interfaces, and implementing energy and operational optimization initiatives.
BAS Tasks & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with clients and team members, ensuring effective communication.
- Develop and implement project and service strategies to meet performance goals.
- Lead and support field team members under the guidance of the BAS Manager.
- Participate in hiring, training, and developing team members.
- Contribute to growing the BAS service client base.
- Support delivery of construction project scope and service-related deliverables.
- Program and develop graphics for HVAC equipment and verify system performance.
- Integrate building automation software with third-party systems via network connections.
- Simulate sequences of operations to verify system performance using appropriate software.
- Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage power equipment, network communications, and related components during commissioning.
- Commission BAS systems, verify operation, and report anomalies.
- Provide verification checklists throughout the commissioning process.
- Verify installation and operation of electrical and electronic equipment related to BAS.
- Perform inspections, tests, and adjustments on low-voltage electronic components per manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a strong understanding of HVAC equipment and control strategies.
- Use technical manuals and instructions for calibration of equipment and instruments.
- Complete service reports and preventive maintenance checklists during site visits.
- Assist in preparing specifications and reports by collecting and analyzing data.
- Mentor and train employees effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technician, Technologist diploma, or Engineering degree in a related field.
- Ability to self-learn and transfer knowledge to team members.
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Certified in Tridium Niagara AX – N4.
- Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and control strategies.
- Extensive experience with BAS system installation and integration.
- Knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team effectiveness.
- Ability to work in a process-driven environment with excellent time management and multitasking skills.
