Job summary

ACIL AgeCare Investments Ltd is seeking a Building Attendant to perform heavy cleaning in public areas and support our healthcare community. The role involves operating cleaning equipment, maintaining supplies, and ensuring adherence to IP&C, WHMIS and health and safety procedures.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of janitorial experience in larger healthcare environments, can lift heavy equipment, and communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years in janitorial/housekeeping within healthcare is an asset
• Experience with industrial cleaning equipment like vacuums, scrubbers, polishers
• Ability to lift heavy equipment – 40 lbs+
• Knowledge of WHMIS, OH&S and infection control
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Ability to follow directions and work independently

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy cleaning in public areas per schedule and procedures
• Carry out renovations/repairs and event setup as needed
• Operate housekeeping equipment and perform routine maintenance
• Maintain inventory of resident and public area supplies
• Follow IP&C, WHMIS, OH&S procedures in daily work
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job description

The Opportunity: The Building Attendant is primarily responsible for assigned heavy cleaning duties in accordance with established work schedules, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Completes ad-hoc and routine heavy cleaning duties in public areas as assigned including, but not limited to duties involving dusting, vacuuming, mopping, extracting, floor stripping / polishing and disinfecting
• Performs project work as required for renovations and repairs and/or event preparation
• Operates housekeeping equipment and implements as required
• Maintains equipment by following proper operating instructions, proper cleaning instructions and storing properly
• Maintains appropriate inventory of resident supplies, public area supplies and replenishment of position specific supplies
• Utilizes procedures as trained in compliance with IP&C, WHMIS, and Workplace Health & Safety
• Other duties as requested by the supervisor

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in a janitorial/housekeeping role within medium or large healthcare organization is considered an asset
• Experience with industrial vacuum, scrubber, floor polisher, etc.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment & machines – 40 lbs+
• Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of WHIMIS, OH&S and Infection Control
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing
• Must be able to follow direction but work independently
• Must have a positive attitude, be empathetic, motivated and display AgeCares values
• Must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment
