Job description

On behalf of our Utilities Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Build Automation Engineer – Smart Grid Software to join our Client's team on a Full-Time Permanent basis. This role is Hybrid, and the Client is based in Vancouver, BC.
Summary of the Role

The Build Automation Engineer will play a key role in enhancing the reliability and scalability of the Client's test and build infrastructure. Working closely with QA and development teams, this individual will drive innovation in automated testing and CI/CD pipelines within a smart grid software environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks for software quality assurance.
  2. Optimize and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline development workflows.
  3. Provide leadership and technical direction to a small team of engineers.
  4. Collaborate with QA and development teams to identify automation opportunities and improve test coverage.
  5. Integrate Infrastructure as Code solutions and maintain deployment tools and scripts.
Core Requirements:
  1. 7–10 years of experience in software test automation and build infrastructure.
  2. Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a technical environment.
  3. Proficiency with test automation tools such as JTest, Selenium, TestNG, or JUnit.
  4. Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  5. Strong Linux skills (Ubuntu or RedHat) and familiarity with Terraform or Ansible.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Experience with Perl, Python, and Bash scripting.
  3. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI.
  4. Familiarity with SQL for database validation and testing.
  5. Agile/Scrum team experience and use of Git version control.
Terms:

This is a full-time permanent role based in Vancouver, BC with a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to complete a background check at the offer stage.
