Broker Development Consultant - Team Leader - Southeast (Hybrid Home Working)

This is an exciting and very good time to be joining one of the UK’s most progressive and professional insurance companies operating in the UK today.

The role is a Broker Development Consultant – Team Leader where you will lead and develop a small team of desk-based relationship managers to deliver the business objectives as a team and individually. It will also include managing relationships with a “remote” panel of brokers, to identify opportunities for them to profitably grow their Commercial business.

This role would be home-based, managing your time effectively; however, there would be the requirement to be in either Kent or London branches around 2 days per week.

What you would be responsible for

  • Leadership and management of the Broker Development Consultants team
  • Profiling their business and identifying how you can add value to help them grow
  • Promoting the Commercial proposition with your broker panel
  • Managing multiple panel broker relationships to deliver profitable growth in line with or exceeding your financial objectives
  • Developing a detailed profile of each broker’s business
  • Developing and delivering joint business plans with selected brokers
  • Successfully delivering sales campaign activity
  • Developing a robust pipeline of future business opportunities – cases and deals
  • Creating strong internal relationships with key underwriting teams & team members across Commercial, and acting as a focal point for the broker/company relationship
  • Analysing the performance of panel brokers at individual and collective levels and building action plans to ensure delivery of financial objectives
  • Your customers will feel your passion for the business, their Commercial business, and its various propositions and products
  • You will communicate clearly, openly, and effectively, establishing rapport and building trust leading to great business relationships
  • Collaborating with other teams (e.g., underwriting, claims, accounts) will ensure their customer experience continues to improve
  • You’ll be motivated to actively develop your skills & behaviours to achieve continuous improvement in performance and results

Experience and knowledge

  • Commercial insurance experience
  • Background in dealing with intermediaries or B2B relationships

  • Sales and/or business development experience in an intermediated environment
  • Experience of managing or leading a team or a significant project or initiative
