Job Summary

This position is responsible for the setup and live operation of broadcast equipment and camera as directed by the Simulcast Producer by performing various duties including any or all of the following: live cameras; robotic cameras; and camera equipment; audio setup to assist the audio operator on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prep and set up camera equipment
  2. Operation of broadcast big lens cameras with control arms as directed by the Simulcast Producer
  3. Framing and composition of shots as specified by Simulcast Producer
  4. White balance focus and iris control to ensure quality of video signal

Qualifications

  1. General knowledge of television production
  2. General knowledge of broadcast equipment operation
  3. Ability to trouble-shoot technical equipment
  4. Post-secondary diploma or certificate in television production or photography, or equivalent experience, and production experience in a control room and/or field production setting
  5. Volunteer or paid work experience with: a network or cable outlet, league or team broadcast or production unit or any video production team
  6. Working within the horse racing industry with a high level of understanding for the sport and an interest in cameras

Working Conditions

  1. Conditions in the tower can be distracting (extreme heat, extreme cold, intense wind, rain or snow), so paying attention and concentration is crucial
  2. Standing for long periods of time
  3. Lifting cameras weighing close to 30lbs for long periods of time for production needs.
  4. Must be comfortable working at heights
