Job summary

Stantec in Winnipeg, Manitoba invites applications for a Bridge Engineer-in-Training. You’ll join our Transportation Engineering group and work under a Professional Bridge Engineer to grow your technical bridge skills across diverse projects.

Based in Winnipeg, you will contribute to evaluating, selecting, and engineering bridge systems and products, while gaining experience from feasibility to construction oversight in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support project delivery through planning, preliminary design, and detailed design phases.
• Perform structural analysis and design for transportation structures.
• Prepare design details, technical reports, and specifications for bridges.
• Work closely with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary design office.
• Conduct inspections of bridges, culverts, and other structures to assess their condition.
• Perform quantity calculations and develop cost estimates for project components.
• Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and technicians to fulfill transportation engineering responsibilities.
• Support intermediate and senior team members on transportation projects, contributing to both field and office activities.
• Assist the team in preparing technical proposals for new projects and opportunities.
• Aid project managers with general project management duties, including tracking scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Provide on-site observation and oversight during the construction of transportation works to ensure quality and compliance.

Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a Bridge Engineer-in-Training to become part of our dynamic Transportation Engineering group in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In this position you’ll be an active member of our team working on small to large-scale multi-disciplinary projects under the guidance and supervision of a Professional Bridge Engineer. Working in our Winnipeg, Manitoba office, you will given the opportunity to further develop your skills in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering bridge systems and products for a variety of transportation projects. This opportunity will allow the successful candidate to exercise their technical engineering skills while growing and having a say in the development of their own career at Stantec.

Our Winnipeg team combines a strong local presence with involvement in some of the largest and most complex transportation projects across the Prairies and Territories. Our work encompasses the entire lifecycle of transportation infrastructure, from feasibility studies and preliminary planning through detailed design and construction oversight.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Prepare design details, technical reports, and specifications for bridges and other transportation structures.
• Work closely with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary design office, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Conduct inspections of bridges, culverts, and other structures to assess their condition and support maintenance planning.
• Perform quantity calculations and develop cost estimates for project components.
• Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and technicians to fulfill transportation engineering responsibilities.
• Support intermediate and senior team members on transportation projects, contributing to both field and office activities.
• Assist the team in preparing technical proposals for new projects and opportunities.
• Aid project managers with general project management duties, including tracking scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Provide on-site observation and oversight during the construction of transportation works to ensure quality and compliance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and projects.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
