In the role of Bridge EIT, we'll count on you to:
  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
  • Periodically conduct field inspections for different types of railway or highway structures.
  • Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software and perform structural load calculations; and assist with geometric layout, specifications and quantity development.
  • Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs
  • Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents and cost estimates
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines including road, geotechnical, drainage and environmental planning
  • Carry out Construction Contract Administration Duties
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in bridge design or construction experience, including MTO/Municipal and Railway structures or completed related structural engineering courses as part of the undergraduate degree program.
  • P. Eng. or in the process to obtain P.Eng., EIT is required
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, LPile, Midas Civil, SAP2000, or LUSAS would be a plus
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • MS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experience
  • Knowledge of and some familia rity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge
  • Knowledge of Bently OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
  • Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
