Job summary

Fernie Brewing Company is seeking a Brewer to join our skilled brew team in Fernie, BC. You will participate in the brewing, cellaring, and filtration processes from start to finish, applying advanced knowledge of brewing and strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities.

The role emphasizes teamwork, exceptional communication, and meticulous attention to detail, with a focus on quality and consistency in our brewing operations and a love of craft beer.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of craft brewery experience, direct brewing preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of the brewing process.
• Exceptional mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Brewing certificate or BSc considered an asset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Legally able to work in Canada.
• 19+ years of age.
• Ability to maneuver 50 kgs.
• Love of delicious craft beer.

Responsibilities

• Brewing including milling, mashing, lautering, and boiling.
• Operating the centrifuge.
• Dry-hopping.
• Checking beers during fermentation and basic quality control assessments.
• Pitching yeast.
• Cleaning and day-to-day maintenance of equipment.
• Assisting on the keg filling line and in the packaging department as required.

What you'll be doing:

As a Brewer, you will join our highly skilled & passionate brew team. You will participate in the brewing, cellaring, and filtration processes from start to finish as well as perform many other tasks in our Brewing department. You have advanced knowledge of the brewing process, excellent mechanical trouble shooting skills, as well as exceptional teamwork and communication capabilities. Additionally, you are highly motivated & organized.

Main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Brewing including milling, mashing, lautering, and boiling
• Operating the centrifuge
• Dry-hopping
• Checking beers during fermentation & basic quality control assessments
• Pitching yeast
• Cleaning and day-to-day maintenance of equipment
• Assisting on the keg filling line and in the packaging department as required

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• 1-2 years of previous experience in a craft brewery, direct brewing experience preferred
• Advanced knowledge of the brewing process
• Exceptional mechanical trouble shooting skills
• A Certificate or other advanced education in the brewing process, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related field considered an asset
• Exceptional communication and teamwork
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Legally able to work in Canada
• 19+ years of age
• The ability to maneuver 50kgs
• A love of delicious craft beer!

Please note: An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

This position is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week and requires a flexible work schedule. Depending on the brew schedule, shifts will vary as needed including early morning shifts, day shifts, night shifts, and evenings and weekends.
