Job summary

LandSea is seeking a Breakfast Baker / Housekeeper for remote BC camps. You will prepare breakfast, bake items, and maintain camp facilities while living on-site. The role includes 10- to 12-hour shifts, a 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, and meals and accommodations during on-site work.

The position offers wage rates between $24.62 and $25.65 per hour, with overtime eligibility and health/wellness benefits for full-time staff. Applicants must pass pre-employment checks and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience in a related field; preferably a camp catering environment with housekeeping background preferred.
• 3-5 years' previous experience as a breakfast cook, line cook, baker or similar role preferred.
• High production baking with at least 70% scratch baking.
• Knowledge of breakfast preparation and cooking techniques.
• Basic First Aid & Food Safety training assets; WHMIS and related safety certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast items (eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc.) per menu.
• Set up and stock cooking stations before service.
• Ensure food prepared to recipes, portions, and quality standards.
• Maintain sanitary, organized work area; follow safety rules.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products.
• Oversee room inspections and cleaning schedules; support other staff.

About Working in Remote Camps

• Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.
• Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff.
• Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply.
• Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces and require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

The Breakfast Baker / Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the overall organization, housekeeping and efficient operation of LandSea camp facilities and for preparing breakfast and service, plus preparing all baked items, as outlined in a predetermined menu plan.

This camp is remote and located approximately 5 hours south of Smithers, BC Our team organizes all logistics and travel for employees to get to and from camp.

Job Responsibilities

Breakfast Cook / Baker

• Prepare and cook breakfast items such as eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, breakfast meats, and other menu offerings
• Set up and stock cooking stations before service.
• Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, portion standards, and quality requirements
• Monitor food inventory and notify management of supply needs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products
• Work efficiently during busy breakfast service periods
• Support other kitchen staff as needed
• Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations after service
• Oversee room inspections and cleaning schedules
• Remove garbage and dust shelving
• Sweep and vacuum the mudroom, hallway, and entranceways
• Check inbound and outbound guest lists for room changeover. Report changes and cleaned items
• Ensure bathrooms are cleaned each day (floors, toilets, shower stalls, sinks, and mirrors)
• Replenish toilet paper, paper towels and soap
• Keep the laundry room tidy; dust and sweep daily, mop every other day
• Keep linen storage clean and organized
• Other duties may be assigned
• Ensure accommodations, laundry facilities, and common areas meet company standards
• Respond to client and guest concerns promptly
• Deliver high-quality customer service in a remote camp environment

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience in a related field of work; preferably a camp catering environment with a housekeeping background preferred
• 3-5 years' previous experience as a breakfast cook, line cook, baker or similar role preferred
• High production baking experience while maintaining a minimum of 70% scratch baking
• Knowledge of breakfast food preparation and cooking techniques
• Basic First Aid, basic and advanced Food Safe training, WHMIS, HCCAP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Travel Restraint, Transport of Dangerous Goods, Accident Investigation, and Health and Safety Training certificates are an asset
• Knowledge of Camp Manager Database programs and retail Point of Sale systems
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong decision making and delegation skills
• Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word
• Superior organization and time management skills
• Team player and can provide support, motivation and encouragement to others
