A community support organization located in Nanaimo is looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to manage financial records and ensure accurate reporting. The role involves handling Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and maintaining confidential information. Candidates should have a diploma in Accounting and at least 3 years of bookkeeping experience. Proficiency in software like QuickBooks Online is preferred. Job Summary: The Bookkeeper ensures the accurate recording and reporting of financial and payroll information. Due to the temporary nature of this role, focus will be on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliation and Deposits, and Recordkeeping of Donations and Expenses. This position requires working with a large volume of complex and constantly changing data. Comfort and skill in working with a high degree of attention to detail are essential.
Reports to: Director of Finance
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Codes, records and posts source documents such as invoices and receipts to the appropriate accounts.
2.Maintains and updates accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
3.Distributes invoices for approval purposes and pays approved invoices.
4.Maintains bank, a/p and a/r account records; reconciles bank, payable and receivables accounts, employee benefits and pension accounts.
5.Responds to inquiries and requests regarding bookkeeping duties.
6.Follows up to resolve errors and discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.
7.Perform other duties as required by the position.
Qualifications, Education, Training, and Experience:
•Diploma in Accounting or Bookkeeping;
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in bookkeeping;
•Or an equivalent combination of both
•Satisfactory criminal record check.
•Relevant working knowledge of platforms such as Stripe, IATS, QuickBooks Online (QBO), Keela, and CanadaHelps is preferred.
