Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer payroll, benefits, and pension processes.
• Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.
• Reconcile bank accounts and prepare month-end reports.
• Prepare T4s and ROEs, assist with annual budgets.
• Prepare GST and WCB filings and issue tuition receipts.
• Assist with audit packages and support external auditors.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School (STA) in North Vancouver is seeking a skilled, organized, and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our school community. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) position that will support and work alongside our current bookkeeper.

This role is well-suited to someone who is dependable, collaborative, and confident managing a variety of accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities in a busy school setting.

Responsibilities include:

• Administering payroll, benefits, and pension processes


• Processing payments and maintaining accurate financial records


• Reconciling bank accounts, preparing journal entries, and producing month-end financial reports


• Preparing and distributing T4s and Records of Employment (ROEs)


• Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets


• Preparing GST and WCB filings


• Issuing tuition tax receipts to families


• Preparing the audit package and assisting auditors during the annual mandatory Ministry of Education audit


• Performing other accounting and administrative duties as needed

Experience and qualifications:

• Minimum of three years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll administration, and full-cycle accounting


• Experience using Sage 50 Accounting software


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive


• Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills


• Ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team


• Careful attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
