Job description

Location : Metro Vancouver - Qualified candidates from other provinces will be considered, with relocation assistance provided if all other requirements are met.

What you will do

The Service Technician will be responsible for wiring, firing, and testing boilers in the field. This position involves the startup and maintenance of customer equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have knowledge of PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and other controls.
  • Wire all controls and motors for boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Familiarity with condensate tanks and deaerators.
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Able to troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers.
  • Determine valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
  • Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitors.
  • Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve results.
  • Ensure duties and projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Support other technicians and management with internal and external projects.
  • Adhere to company policies.
  • Work both in a team and independently.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and work from schematics.
  • Knowledge and experience in hot water heating systems and controls.
  • Class A Gas ticket.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Broad knowledge of boiler controls including Honeywell, Fireye, and Siemens.
  • Mechanical and electrical background is essential.
  • Ability to troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience in retrofitting control systems in the field.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems without schematics.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in electrical, control, and boiler fields.
  • Backflow testing certificate is an asset.

Hourly rate of $46.63, determined by UA Local 170 CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through the union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. Overscale may be offered to qualified candidates.
