Boiler Operators Wanted! This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $28.93-$32.08, depending on experience. We offer full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401K Match.

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is seeking an experienced Boiler Operator to join our Power Plant team in Scotia, CA.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The key responsibilities include:

  • Operate and monitor all equipment related to the Boilers, Steam System, and Water System.
  • Maintain proper water chemistry.
  • Perform duties as outlined by supervisor or lead person, including relieving turbine operator and fuel pusher during breaks.
  • Start and stop boilers and turbines/generators safely and efficiently, bringing them online and offline.
  • Operate the Bailey control system and control plant operations through it.
  • Operate service booster and treated water make-up pumps, valve them in and out.
  • Operate cooling water circulation pumps, fans, and basin water level controls.
  • Manage electrical equipment from 13,800 volts down to 110 volts.
  • Control and operate plant equipment manually and remotely.
  • Monitor plant air quality and take corrective actions to prevent violations.
  • Test and maintain proper power plant chemistry.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Minimum one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Bailey control system.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, and communicate.
  • May frequently be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Required personal protective equipment includes eye and hearing protection, gloves, safety vests, shoes, fall protection, hard hats, welding and respirator gear.
  • Work environment is loud, with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, adverse weather, vibration, wet conditions, dust, grease, and noise.
  • Climbing approximately 100 stairs daily is required.
