A leading company in the automotive repair industry is seeking a body technician to enhance store efficiency through systematic repairs. The role involves dismantling vehicles, managing parts, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the repair process. Ideal candidates are organized, able to multitask, and possess strong communication skills. Join a team that values safety and collaboration while contributing to high-quality vehicle repairs.
The body technician enhances the store's efficiency by adhering to a systematic approach for all repairs. Properly dismantling vehicles, including blend panel trim parts, ensures comprehensive listing of parts and labor, facilitating early identification of collision damage within the repair cycle. The technician must be highly organized, maintain excellent documentation to minimize losses, and be able to read and interpret estimates accurately. This ensures that the parts used match the vehicle's specifications; any discrepancies should be documented on the supplemental damage sheet and communicated immediately, especially during repairs or daily walkabouts with management. Participation in daily production and release meetings is essential to provide key updates to managerial staff.
• When a vehicle is assigned, review work order line items and parts to be replaced; the parts coordinator positions the vehicle in the appropriate stall.
• Examine the vehicle's exterior for damages, check all power accessories (doors, locks, windows, mirrors), and ensure no warning lights are active on the dashboard. Identify any overlooked damages on the QA checklist or supplemental damage sheet.
• Fully dismantle damaged areas, including blend panels, to identify hidden damages early in the repair process.
• Initiate repairs and notify management of any major supplements or hidden damages that could affect progress.
• Upon repair completion, return unused parts for credit, organize all parts on the cart, and notify the parts coordinator to store them appropriately. Smaller repairs should be stored in the trunk.
• Sign off on the QA checklist, move the vehicle to the next production area, and notify the next technician.
• Clean the stall, re-inventory as necessary, and prepare the next vehicle for processing.
• Attend daily production meetings at 7:45 AM to update vehicle statuses.
• Conduct one-on-one discussions with management at 1 PM to report additional damages or parts overlooked initially.
• After the morning meeting, ensure incoming vehicle parts carts/totes are loaded.
• Move the vehicle to the assigned stall upon check-in.
• Transfer parts totes or carts to the stall.
• Notify the technician when the vehicle is positioned and ready for work.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment reflecting company standards.
• Follow the safety policies outlined in the Employee Policy Manual.
