Sunrise of Life is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Board of Directors as a volunteer Board Member. Our board has a focus on operations and governance. As a member of our Board, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the strategic direction and growth of our organization, while also providing valuable oversight and governance. Board experience is not required.

About Sunrise of Life: Sunrise of Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth in need in Tanzania. Our mission is to provide access to education, healthcare, and other basic needs to vulnerable communities, empowering individuals to build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Our strategic plan outlines our priorities for the coming years, including expanding our programs, increasing our impact, and building strong partnerships with communities and organizations.

Responsibilities:

1. Providing strategic oversight and guidance to our operations in Canada, ensuring that our programs are aligned with our mission and strategic plan.
2. Monitoring our financial and operational performance, ensuring that we are meeting our goals and targets, and taking action to address any issues or concerns.
3. Participating in regular Board meetings and contributing to the development of our strategic plan and policies.
4. Supporting our fundraising and development efforts, building relationships with donors and stakeholders, and identifying new funding opportunities.
5. Building partnerships with organizations and communities in Canada, expanding our network and strengthening our impact.

Qualifications:

1. A commitment to our mission and values, with a passion for improving the lives of children and youth in need.
2. Experience in a leadership role in a non-profit organization, with a strong understanding of operations and governance.
3. Experience working in Canada and a deep understanding of the social and cultural context of our operations in the country.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with donors, stakeholders, and partners.
5. A willingness to contribute time and energy to the Board, attending regular meetings and participating in committees and working groups as needed.
