Job description

The Comox Valley Division of Family Practice Board is Seeking Expertise in Health Systems, Strategic Planning, Human Resources, or Communications/ Public Relations.

The Comox Valley Division of Family Practice (the Division) is dedicated to supporting family physicians and nurse practitioners in optimizing healthcare services within the Comox Valley. We work collaboratively with our members, local communities, and healthcare system partners to advance our shared vision. Mission:

The Comox Valley Division of Family Practice (the Division) engages and supports family physicians and nurse practitioners to strengthen the health of our community.

The Division:

  • Promotes member well-being and satisfaction, professionally and personally
  • Responds to membership, practice and community needs
  • Cooperates and collaborates with patients and partners
  • Engages leadership to influence positive change with the health care system

We are currently seeking a skilled professional with expertise in one or more of the following areas: health systems, strategic planning, human resources, or communications/public relations, to join our Board of Directors. Ideal candidates will have extensive knowledge and experience in their field, a strong background in governance, and familiarity with the non-profit and primary care sectors.Please note: health care experience is not required but considered an asset.

About the Role

The Board of the Comox Valley Division is composed of nine members, including Division General Members (physicians and nurse practitioners), a Division Associate Member, and Community Members.

Board members attend in-person meetings (no more than once a month), the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and other Division events throughout the year. Responsibilities include:

  • Committing to the Division’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Initiatives
  • Leading the Division and its committees in setting and monitoring annual goals
  • Providing budget oversight
  • Ensuring effective two-way communication with members, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Overseeing sound risk management practices

The term of office for Community Member Directors is three years, with the possibility of consecutive terms. The position is paid.
