Board Certified Small Animal Locum Surgeon – St. John's, Canada

VSC - Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador, 860 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada Req #4555

You were made to save animals; we take care of the rest.

Are you ready for an adventure? Discover the rugged beauty and warm hospitality of Newfoundland, where breathtaking coastal landscapes, charming historic towns, and unforgettable wildlife encounters await you at every turn. Veterinary Specialty Center of Newfoundland & Labrador ("VSCNL") is seeking a board-certified small animal veterinary surgeon to join our enthusiastic team in a locum capacity to provide surgical care to our patients. We are open to short- or long-term work assignments, as your schedule permits. At our specialty center, you will work closely with a surgical support team of highly skilled registered veterinary technicians and assistants as well as a specialist in diagnostic imaging.

Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador is the only emergency and referral center in the province. VSCNL is located just outside St. John’s, Newfoundland and offers emergency and surgical care, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse and challenging caseload with VSCNL being the only specialty center in Newfoundland and Labrador, an ocean away from the nearest center on mainland Canada. We run a canine blood donor program and have designated ER veterinarians to support you. When it comes to diagnosing and treating the pets of Newfoundland and Labrador, we are there for them every day! We are currently expanding our facility with additional growth for services to be added in the future.

You will have access to advanced surgical tools including Storz arthroscopic and laparoscopic equipment, C-arm and C-arm compatible OR tables, Harmonic Scalpel, Asculap battery-operated orthopedic drills and saws, standard and locking orthopedic implants, and almost anything else you can think of!

We also have a comprehensive in-house laboratory staffed by Registered Medical Laboratory Technologists and the only Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) in the province. Our rehabilitation service is well equipped with a large gym area, underwater treadmill, laser, TENS, and therapeutic ultrasound. Diagnostic imaging capabilities are all available with an in-house 32-slice GE CT and a 1.5 T MRI.
