What You’ll Do

As the Blaster, you will carry out blasting operations throughout the Maritimes. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of each blast site. Other duties will include:

  1. Lead blasting operations with the support of the blasting or site supervisor.
  2. Assist in blast design and layout of drill patterns.
  3. Perform blast site hazard assessments to ensure the blast site is a safe work environment for all involved.
  4. Communicate all relevant information to the blast crew, including a review of the hazard assessment through the safety tailgate meeting.
  5. Ensure that all equipment to be used daily is clean and in good operating condition including vehicles used for delivery of explosives products.
  6. Transport explosives in a safe and efficient manner.
  7. Ensure that all regulations, both federally and provincially are adhered to.
  8. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all products (explosive and non-explosive).
  9. Ensure that company policies, safe work practices, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures are followed.

What We’re Looking For:

Completion of high school (Grade 12) or equivalent preferred.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PDF Reporting, etc.)
Blasting certification or equivalent experience.
Post-secondary education relative to blasting considered an asset (mining, mineral resources, geology).
A class 3 or higher driver’s license considered an asset.
Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement.
Good physical condition is required with the ability to repeatedly handle 25 kg units.
Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player.

What We Offer:

Base annual salary starting from CA$90,000.00 per year for fully qualified selected candidates.
Eligible for an annual incentive program.
Sign-on bonus eligible.
Possibility for reimbursement of some relocation expenses.
