Acuren is looking for an experienced Blast & Coat Tech to work within our Advanced Coating Solutions group! The Surface Preparation Tradesperson, under the direction of the Foreman, will primarily be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This role will also ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media within capabilities as required to ensure quality of production.
  2. Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
  3. Follow shop blast procedures, set blast equipment controls, carry out production and inspection of blast profile. Identify all no-blast zones in the shop prior to setup of product and equipment.
  4. Ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times and perform daily maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools.
  5. Closely monitor equipment settings for signs of problems while ensuring blast output is meeting set specifications.
  6. Position and install parts, subassemblies, and accessories using hand tools, power tools, and other aids like overhead hoists.
  7. Record and report all non-conforming products and materials.
  8. Setup all pipe and structural steel for efficient and effective blast execution.
  9. Assess and analyze improvement of the effectiveness of the quality management system and its process and review with senior management at minimum semi-annually.
  10. Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools.
  11. Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day.
  12. Assess and analyze product nonconformance and previous management reviews.
Requirements
  1. Blasting and Coating experience required.
  2. 1st or 2nd year coater/blaster experience preferred.
  3. CSO, Confined Space, H2S Alive, WHMIS certifications are assets.
  4. Strong attention to detail.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
