STATUS : Full-time, Permanent

ABOUT THE ROLE

In addition to your role as rotary wing pilot, the operations manager will be responsible for operational oversight of Blackcomb Helicopters, leading a team of rotary wing pilots and support personnel.

Primary areas of responsibility will include recruitment, performance management, scheduling, strategic utilization of aircraft, and leadership and development of the operations team.

YOU WILL

  • Coordinate the utilization of aircraft to meet customer requirements;
  • Work closely with the chief pilot and other management staff on monitoring of pilot performance and periodic evaluations of flight operations and personnel performance;
  • Work closely with the director of maintenance and the maintenance team in coordinating maintenance scheduling and timely reporting of contract / job-specific aircraft and equipment requirements;
  • Assist in budget preparation and maintain an overview of operations department systems and practices to assist responsible managers in maintaining overall efficiency and regulatory compliance;
  • Work closely with the vice president, Business Development to utilize the company’s fleet and ensure all contract terms and obligations are being met or exceeded;
  • Manage all company manuals in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and internal company standards;
  • Support the chief pilot in executing flight operations and pilot training programs, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada and Canadian Air Regulations standards.
  • Support the director, Safety & Quality, by ensuring any information affecting the safety of flight is received and actioned in a timely manner; And other duties as required from time to time.

WHAT YOU OFFER :

  • A current Canadian commercial pilot’s license and valid medical;
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Transport Canada regulations;
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a variety of situations in a dynamic environment;
  • Able to encourage and facilitate effective teamwork and communication;
  • Analyze problems and have good decision-making abilities;
  • Deliver results and the ability to work effectively within a large group;
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail when completing paperwork;
  • Previous experience managing a team;
  • Legally entitled to work within Canada.

As this is a senior management position, salary will be dependent upon experience. Salary information is available upon request.
