As imaging and blood-based biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases (NDD), including AD, continue to rapidly evolve, there is a need to determine when pathological proteins become detectable in the brain relative to age and risk factors and how they can inform on multi-etiology causes of impairment. The Fluid Biomarker Program supports researchers at UW and abroad through providing core services, including preparing kits for sample collection, managing biospecimens, shipping samples to requestors, and analyzing samples via immunoassays. The lab also supports novel fluid biomarker research, including assay development.
The Fluid Biomarker Program, together with the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer's Prevention (WRAP), and the Biomarker Core of the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (WADRC) is seeking a biorepository coordinator to join our team. Responsibilities for this position include intake, accessioning and shipping of biological samples, coordinating with internal and external collaborators, building blood and CSF collection kits, blood processing, data entry, updating protocols, and equipment maintenance, all with a focus on safety and quality. After-hours freezer call coverage, in the event of an emergency, is required and is a shared responsibility for all team members..
