Job description
Position Information

This is a corporate position with a home base at the Civic Campus.

This position is to support different initiatives in collaboration with the Digital Solutions team.

Temporary position until October 6th, 2026 approximately

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements
  • Biomedical Engineering Technologist or Electronics Engineering Technologist diploma (3 years) from an accredited institution OR an equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Two (2) years related experience;
  • Eligible for CET and CBET certification;
  • Ability to understand the links and inter-connectivity of various electronic systems;
  • Sound working knowledge, understanding and ability to service and calibrate specialized and sophisticated electro-medical systems such as patient monitoring devices, anesthesia apparatus, surgical lasers, ventilators, etc.;
  • Ability to understand and interpret schematic diagrams;
  • Skilled in the use of electrical or electronic measuring devices;
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Hydro Electrical Code and CSA standards;
  • Basic knowledge of general physics and anatomy;
  • Working knowledge of WHMIS;
  • Experience working with word processing and spreadsheet applications;
  • Proven ability to lead/coach/mentor;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Superior judgement and problem-solving skills;
  • Superior interpersonal and collaboration skills;
  • Superior documentation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks, anticipate problems and deviations with daily or monthly plans to meet assigned and personal objectives.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered with OACETT;
  • Certification as an Biomedical Engineering Technologist , CBET(C);
  • Proven ability to work in multiple clinical environments such as the OR, ICU, Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency, Cath/EP labs, etc;
  • Experience with OR equipment (e.g. Anesthesia, continuous patient monitoring, etc.);
  • Knowledge of CSA and other standards pertaining to Hospitals, particularly lasers safety;
  • Experience mentoring of Engineering and Technology internships and student placements;
  • Experience in Clinical Monitoring Network infrastructure technology support;
  • Experience in clinical information support, such as HL7 and hospital networks and security;
