Job summary

Randstad Canada in Gravenhurst is hiring two Machine Operators to join our extrusion team. Starting pay is $18/hour with opportunities for growth. Candidates should have experience setting up and operating extrusion machinery, including set-ups, changeovers and basic quality inspections.

This is a local, on-site role with continental shifts (days and nights 7:45 to 7:45). Candidates should be reliable, capable of reading a tape measure, and comfortable following instructions and safety

Qualifications

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to learn manufacturing systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow safety rules.
• Grade 12 is an asset.
• Basic reading, writing, and math; read a tape measure.
• Read work instructions and safety documents.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the quality of the extruded product and its packaging.
• Set up and operate extrusion machinery; perform changeovers and adjustments; troubleshoot.
• Perform pre-operation checks to start up equipment.
• Operate and monitor multiple pieces of equipment to ensure high-quality production with minimal waste.
• Communicate with team and support functions to maintain continuous production.
• Housekeeping and sanitation.

Details:

Responsibilities

• Maintain the quality of the extruded product, and it’s packaging
• Experience setting up & operating extrusion machinery; Set-ups, Changeovers, Adjustments, Mechanical Aptitude; Ability to Troubleshoot; Visual & Quality Inspections, Basic Paperwork
• Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
• Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
• Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
• Housekeeping and sanitation

Qualifications

• Proven history of good attendance
• Strong desire for personal advancement and the willingness to achieve by learning our manufacturing systems and reporting as scheduled with an upbeat team player mindset
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
• Grade 12 an asset
• Basic reading, writing, and mathematical competency
• Ability to perform simple math, and take measurements (understand how to read a tape measure)
• Capable of reading and understanding work instructions and safety documents
