Job summary

Applied Biological Materials Inc. in Richmond, BC is seeking a hands-on laboratory technician to perform biological, microbiological, and biochemical tests supporting research and quality control.

You will apply microscopy, histochemistry, chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectroscopy, and prepare reagents and SOP-compliant materials. The role emphasizes meticulous record-keeping, data analysis, instrument maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Experience in laboratory testing and operating lab equipment.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and conduct biological, microbiological, and biochemical laboratory tests and analyses to support research and quality control activities
  • Apply laboratory techniques including microscopy, histochemistry, chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectroscopy
  • Perform standardized laboratory procedures related to antibody production, characterization, and validation
  • Conduct immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining procedures and prepare microscope slides for analysis
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, buffers, and solutions in accordance with SOPs
  • Handle, label, aliquot, and store biological samples and laboratory materials following protocols
  • Collect, organize, and assist in the analysis of laboratory data and experimental results
  • Identify and report experimental variances or technical issues
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and documentation in notebooks or electronic systems
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment used in biological testing and research
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and cleaning
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, quality control standards, and established protocols

Job Duties:

Job Requirements:
  • - Degree or diploma in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field
  • - Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience in biological, biotechnology, or biomedical environments
  • - Experience performing laboratory tests and operating laboratory equipment
  • - Knowledge of laboratory techniques such as microscopy, histochemistry, or electrophoresis is an asset
  • - Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
  • - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
