Job description

A Bookbinder is responsible for setting up and operating industrial bindery equipment to produce quality finished products. The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate bookbinding equipment related to cutting, collating, folding, stitching, and stamping.
  • Adjust machinery to ensure efficient operation and quality finishing.
  • Review job orders to determine production time and quantities required.
  • Perform various other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

Candidates must have one of the following:

  • A Bookbinder certification; or
  • Completed a Bookbinder apprenticeship; or
  • 4+ years of current and relevant experience as a Bookbinder or Bindery Operator.

Technology

Current and relevant bindery experience on machines such as:

  • Saddle Stitcher
  • Perfect Binder

Additional beneficial experience includes:

  • Foil stamping
  • Electronic chip inlay
  • Laser cutting
  • Lamination

Skills and Characteristics

  • Excellent mechanical and mathematical skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to work all shift schedules including days, nights, evenings, and overtime as required

Security Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Canadian Government Secret (Level II) clearance
