BIM/VDC Technician

The BIM/VDC Technician is responsible for implementing and managing digital construction technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Virtual Design Construction (VDC) and other digital solutions which aims to improve efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration in construction projects.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Create and manage digital construction strategies for the project.
  • Oversee the application of BIM and other digital construction tools and software.
  • Train and guide the project team on the use of digital construction technologies.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure digital plans align with project goals.
  • Lead the creation of digital models and simulations of the project.
  • Ensure all digital construction deliverables comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify and recommend new digital construction technologies to improve project efficiency.
  • Resolve any issues related to the application of digital construction technologies.

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma from an Architectural, Engineering or Construction Management program.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a CAD Technologist, Architectural Technologist or Drafter is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse teams such as designers, engineers, architects and project teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and proficiency in digital tools like BIM, VR, AR and VDC.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in digital models and simulations.
  • Proficiency in BIM software like Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to improve construction processes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address and resolve technical issues.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in digital modelling and simulations.
  • Ability to train and support team members in using digital technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
  • Ability to drive innovation and implement new digital solutions in construction projects.
