Job description

Ontario Transit Group (OTG) is seeking a BIM Coordinator responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes within a construction or design project, ensuring accurate and up-to-date digital information is accessible to all stakeholders. The role involves overseeing model creation, clash detection, and data management throughout the design and construction stages, ultimately facilitating smooth project collaboration and delivery.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Receive and aggregate design partners' and trade subcontractors' BIM models, maintaining up-to-date BIM federated models.
  • Review 3D models elaborated by designers, subcontractors, or other teams for quality.
  • Run visual and automated clash detection of aggregated BIM models (spatial coordination).
  • Communicate conflicts in models, both real and potential, producing 3D BIM coordination reports and managing issues via BCF.
  • Develop and maintain BIM object libraries and design script libraries according to Project BIM/CAD standards.
  • Develop and maintain project BIM models during construction as per standards, including sections, viewpoints, and other representations for team understanding.
  • Provide BIM support to engineering and construction teams for scheduling, including performing quantity take-offs and generating trade/quantity schedule outputs.
  • Oversee laser scanning of existing spaces and incorporate data into federated models for review.
  • Incorporate field data into BIM models and generate as-built models using survey information.
  • Provide BIM navigation user training.
  • Develop and export CAD drawings from models for construction activities, supporting fit-out teams.
  • Assist in the development of cadets and graduate engineers; participate in on-the-job training and development.
  • Support the implementation of H&S policies, promoting a safe and environmentally sound working environment.

Qualifications :

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit (Stations), Civil 3D (civil works), and mandatory knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks.
  • Experience with software applications like Synchro, Fuzor, Dynamo is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, with at least 2 years on BIM projects.
