Job summary

Mott MacDonald Canada is looking for a BIM/CAD Civil Designer in Calgary to support major infrastructure projects. The role involves preparing detailed drawings, managing design documents, and training junior staff in CAD software. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in linear infrastructure projects and a strong understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Linear Infrastructure or Site Development Projects.
  • Proficiency in using AutoDesk and/or Bentley Software Design Packages.
  • ASET registration as a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

Job description

Mott MacDonald Canada is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in Canada. We are seeking a BIM/CAD Civil Designer to support our growing civil team in Calgary andto assist with infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients.

Responsibilities will include the following:

Preparing general arrangement and detailed drawings for roadways, railways, grading, drainage, utilities and land development

Preparing and revising Civil 3D models and extracting 2D drawings as required

Following checking and self-checking process, issuing drawings to internal and external clients, and managing electronic information

Engage as part of large multidisciplinary teams and coordinate design documents for consistency

Engage effectively and professionally in verbal and written communications

Utilize collaboration techniques for information management and implement Building Information Modelling (BIM)

Training team members in technical software and collaboration tools, design coordination workflows

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

Graduate from an accredited college program in Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or from a career college in Engineering CAD / BIM Technology

ASET registration as a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist or the ability to obtain

5 to 10 years of Experience in Linear Infrastructure or Site Development Projects.

Excellenttime management skills, setting priorities, to complete deliverables on time

Proficiency in using AutoDesk (AutoCAD/Civil 3D) and/or Bentley (OpenRoads/OpenRail) Software Design Packages

Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand what tasks are required to deliver projects and assignments successfully, as well as solving technical challenges while developing new workflows

Genuine interest to develop and progress digital delivery with a propensity for learning

Maintain and improve on knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, practices, and engineering procedures
