Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Lavender. We are currently looking for a Billing Manager in Canada.

As Billing Manager, you will lead the full revenue cycle management (RCM) function, overseeing a remote team and ensuring smooth, compliant, and efficient billing operations. You’ll take charge of the claims process end-to-end—from submission and payment posting to denial management and escalated client issues. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution, requiring strong medical billing knowledge, leadership experience, and a sharp eye for process improvement. You’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure high performance and seamless client experiences in a mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead, train, and mentor the Billing team, setting clear goals and delivering regular performance feedback.
  • Oversee all RCM operations, including claims submission, denial resolution, payment posting, and appeals.
  • Monitor and reduce aging accounts receivable, with a focus on 60–120+ day buckets.
  • Collaborate with Concierge, Credentialing, and Finance teams to ensure consistent billing workflows.
  • Handle complex or escalated billing inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
  • Track KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching to drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze billing trends, test CPT strategies, and recommend data-informed revenue optimizations.
  • Stay current with billing compliance, HIPAA regulations, and payer policy updates.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture that supports collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Drive strategic improvements to scale billing operations in line with company growth.
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare billing and collections, with commercial insurance payers.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role within revenue cycle management or medical billing.
  • Proficient in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and terminology.
  • Hands-on experience with payer portals like ClaimMD and Availity.
  • CPB or CPC certification is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated success in improving AR performance and streamlining billing systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with high attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a solutions-oriented mindset and strong analytical skills.
