About the job: Bilingual z/OS Systems Programmer

Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100/500/1000 companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US. We currently have a 12-month renewable contract for a z/OS Systems Programmer with our large global infrastructure client. This could lead to an indefinite contract or a permanent role.

Type: Contract

Duration: 12 months to start, with possible extensions or transition to a permanent role

Rate: $100 - $120/hr + C2C, depending on experience

Language Requirements: English and French

Location: Remote, Canada

Job Role & Responsibilities

The z/OS Systems Programmer will provide services in complex multi-vendor, multi-protocol network/system environments. Responsibilities include:

  • Interacting with customers, vendors, and management to ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for z/OS Operating Systems questions.
  • Identifying and resolving complex issues related to product/service installation, updates, configuration, operations, and performance.
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of technical solutions and management tools.
  • Guiding functional objectives or technologies.

Key skills include professional knowledge of the environment, effective communication and negotiation, problem-solving capabilities, and leadership in providing technical guidance. The role involves accountability for department results, participation in planning, and support of IBM mainframe systems.

Technical Skills & Requirements
  • Support and maintain z/OS and related ISV software, including installation, testing, and problem resolution.
  • Experience with SMP/E, ACF2, I/O generation, TSO, ISPF, HCD, JES2, JES3, DFSMS, and system utilities.
  • Ability to install, customize, and support complex system products and tools.
  • Understanding of sysplex concepts, CPU keys, and vendor collaboration.
  • Proficiency in assembler language, user exits, and system modifications.
  • Experience working with multiple accounts and vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
