We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Bilingual Trauma Therapist to provide specialized mental health services in response to critical incidents. The ideal candidate is either a Registered Social Worker or a Registered Psychotherapist. We’re seeking a candidate with expertise in trauma-informed care and experience supporting individuals and teams impacted by traumatic events, such as natural disasters, workplace accidents, or violent incidents.
In this role, you will provide immediate crisis intervention and longer-term therapeutic support, helping clients process and recover from traumatic experiences. If you are passionate about helping others through critical moments, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
Provide immediate on-site crisis intervention services to individuals and groups affected by critical incidents (e.g., first responders, workplace teams, and survivors).
Conduct trauma assessments to identify acute and long-term mental health needs following critical events.
Deliver evidence-based trauma therapies such as EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), or Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) to address immediate and ongoing psychological effects.
Work closely with emergency management teams, organizations, and first responders to develop tailored interventions and recovery plans.
Offer psychological first aid and guidance to help clients stabilize in the immediate aftermath of traumatic incidents.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support for affected individuals, including follow-up services and referrals to additional resources as needed.
Provide group debriefings, psychoeducation, and workshops to organizations and affected communities to build resilience and aid in recovery.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation, including incident reports, treatment plans, and client progress notes.
Stay updated on best practices in trauma therapy, crisis intervention, and critical incident response.
Qualifications
Bilingualism in English and French is required.
Registration and good standing as either a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist in the province of Ontario.
Experience working in trauma therapy, with a focus on critical incidents or crisis intervention.
Specialized training in trauma therapies such as EMDR, CPT, TF-CBT, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), or Psychological First Aid (PFA).
Proven ability to respond effectively and calmly in high-stress situations.
Strong communication, crisis management, and de-escalation skills.
Ability to collaborate with emergency teams, organizations, and community groups.
Commitment to maintaining cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
