The Work

The Senior Underwriter conducts expert credit reviews across our Insurance Lending products, including Immediate Financing Arrangements (IFA), CSV Max, and CSV Flex. You will adjudicate complex corporate and personal credit applications while maintaining excellent service levels.

The Core Responsibilities:

• Assess creditworthiness of commercial and individual borrowers, adhering to lending guidelines and policies.
• Provide recommendations and approvals within your limits; follow up on conditions and documents to ensure deals close efficiently.
• Understand Whole Life Insurance policies, their structure, functionality, and how future changes impact the credit portfolio.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor colleagues on credit adjudication and compliance practices.
• Support team efforts and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
• Assist other areas within the Growth Business unit as needed.

• Fluent in French and English.
• Post-secondary education in business or finance.
• Deep knowledge of commercial underwriting and financial statement analysis.
• 2-4 years of commercial lending experience; underwriting skills required.
• Insurance lending experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of whole life insurance products is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for holistic credit assessment.
