York University is looking for a Senior Translator at Glendon campus to manage translation projects, ensuring high-quality technical and non-technical translations between English and French. The role requires strong communication and translation skills, along with a relevant university degree and certification.
Glendon is York University's Francophone and bilingual Faculty, and the only institution in southern Ontario offering university programs in both French and English. In , Glendon was named the Centre of Excellence of French-Language Postsecondary Education. Its strategic plan emphasizes strengthening its bilingual mandate and developing relationships with French-language colleges, bilingual universities, and the Francophone community of the Centre-Southwest.
Reporting to the Provost's Office (York) and the Principal's Office (Glendon), the Senior Translator is responsible for translating technical and non-technical written materials from English into French, and occasionally from French into English. The role also involves writing, comparative editing, proofreading, managing translation databases, terminology management, and providing leadership, professional advice, and guidance for communication projects.
The Senior Translator will work on projects for York University and Glendon College and will be located at the Glendon campus.
Education:
University degree in Translation or a related field. Certified translator with the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) or an equivalent professional certifying organization.
