Job description

You will join a team of seasoned legal professionals in a fast-paced environment focused on creating and supporting asset-based retail and inventory-based financial solutions for equipment manufacturers, dealers, and distributors across various industries including Food and Agriculture, Healthcare, Construction, Industrial, Office Equipment, and Technology. You will report to the Head of Legal, Canada, and work with the business to maintain existing financial products and develop new ones. Your role includes advising on legal impacts of new laws, supporting strategic plans, and continuously monitoring processes and services from a legal perspective, liaising with stakeholders.

Day to Day

  • Analyzing, drafting, and guiding on legal documents.
  • Performing legal research.
  • Advising on legal developments and their impact on the business.
  • Negotiating vendor, dealer, and end-user agreements.
  • Providing advice on secured transactions and structured financial solutions.
  • Managing corporate governance and licensing requirements.
  • Reviewing and updating templates.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external parties.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory policies.
  • Contributing to legal policies and procedures development.
  • Sharing legal knowledge and informing management about legal developments.

Qualifications include:

  • 8-10 years of experience in top-tier law firms or in-house legal departments, focusing on financial services, secured transactions, equipment, and inventory finance.
  • Bilingual in French, with strong communication skills in both languages.
  • Degree in Civil Law.
  • Understanding of Quebec Consumer Protection Act and related legal registers.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical, and drafting skills.
  • Experience in equipment leasing, lending, and vendor finance.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to work in a virtual environment.
  • Travel may be required.
