Job description

Position Title : Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller (Bilingual)

Our client is a long-standing leader in the power generation industry with operations across Canada. As the organization evolves, the finance team is seeking an Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller (Bilingual) to support the Director of Finance in ensuring the highest standards of financial reporting, analysis, and internal controls.

This is a full-time, permanent position ideal for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. As Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller , you will take ownership of core accounting functions, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, intercompany reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting. You will also play a key role in supporting forecasting activities, overseeing internal controls, and assisting with acquisition-related accounting.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead or support the month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports
  • Oversee account reconciliations and journal entries, including intercompany transactions
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation reporting
  • Assist with external financial reporting and audits
  • Support integration and accounting for acquisitions and other corporate initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation (or actively pursuing, with CFE completed)
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multi-branch or multi-entity environment
  • Experience with ASPE and / or US GAAP financial reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, IF, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP)
  • Bilingual in English and French (Mandatory)
