The Position

Are you motivated by the opportunity to positively impact mental health for young people in Canada? Would you be passionate about helping young people deal with the challenges of growing up in today’s complex, ever-changing, technologically driven world?

Reporting to the Information and Referral team lead, the Bilingual Resource Specialist supports young people and front-line staff by curating and validating records of in-person, digital, and virtual community-based resources found on Kids Help Phone’s community resource database, which also includes the Canadian Youth Mental Health Apps database. This curated resource database provides young people with trusted referrals to resources such as shelters, emergency crisis supports, mobile apps, etc. The successful candidate will use information management standards and best practices to support the development and maintenance of Canada’s largest youth mental health resource database. The Resource Specialist supports the needs of the Information and Referral team by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data.

Resource specialists also support the broader organization through research and resource dissemination and contribute to the Service Programs team within Kids Help Phone.

Key Functions and Responsibilities
Research & Evaluation
  • Research, identify, and input resources, programs, and tools from across Canada into the Community Resource Database, including supports specific to equity-deserving populations.
Database Management

  • Provide high-quality, timely, efficient, and effective services, including entering and reporting data, and managing documents and records.
  • Participate in digital (telephone, email) and in-person methods to confirm the accuracy of records within Resources Around Me.
  • Develop knowledge translation products (e.g., one-pagers, informational flyers) to support the use of Resources Around Me for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to identify gaps in existing resources and propose solutions.

Note : Opportunities to assist with other Kids Help Phone projects may arise in this role.

What You'll Need :

  • Ability to develop professional relationships based on respect, kindness, and collaboration.
  • Professional manner that inspires trust.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties; you may be asked to perform other tasks as needed to support Kids Help Phone’s objectives.
